Chest Physiotherapy

Posted by Administrator on 11/1/2014
Used to treat a variety of chronic condition such as Cystic Fibrosis, COPD, Asthma, Muscular Dystrophy, Bronchitis, and Pneumonia, Chest Physiotherapy helps to increase lung function by promoting expansion, clearing of airway secretions, and strengthening respiratory muscles. There are a variety of methods used to perform these treatments including percussion, vibration, turning, coughing, and breathing exercises.

Many patients are afflicted by chronic conditions that cause constriction and/or weakness of the airways making it difficult to obtain much needed oxygenation. Particularly at risk are seniors, and patients affected by Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy. These individuals often are unable to break up the secretions due to function resulting from their condition and can benefit from additional assistance. Chest Physiotherapy can help to break up and expel secretions sparing them from a great deal of discomfort, pulmonary degradation, and asphyxiation.
